About Jatiwangi Art Factory

JATIWANGI ART FACTORY (JaF) was founded on 27 September 2005 as a not-for-profit organization focused on arts and cultural activities surrounding discourses on local rural life, community and connecting people. Since 2008, JaF has been collaborating with the Jatisura Village Government on a research concerning ways in which to link people through contemporary participatory techniques in the arts.

JaF’s main programs include: the annual Village Video Festival (VVF), the biannual Residency Festival (JaRF), and the triennial Ceramic Music Festival (CMF). All of which invite art and cultural workers from various disciplines and countries to live, interact, and work together with villagers so as to feel and understand the livelihood of Jatiwangi rural society. These individuals are invited to experiment, formulate, and create something REAL within this existential frame, to be exposed and experienced TOGETHER.
